Q-Flex® Tubing and Hearing Aid Materials

Q-FLEX® is the registered trade name for a variety of elastomeric compounds designed by Flexan for the hearing aid industry. Q-Flex tubing and hearing aid materials can be processed as a molding or extruding compound in a number of colors and hardnesses. Q-Flex tubing has excellent acoustical dampening properties in the mid-range frequencies. The elastomeric portion provides a degree of chemical resistance not found in other hearing aid formulations.

Typical properties of the basic Q-Flex molding compound are:

Durometer 45
Tensile 1000 psi
Elongation 700%
Tear 80 pli

Compression Set (22 hrs\125 °C): 32%, Solid

Heat Resistance (22 hrs\150 °C):
Durometer -2
Tensile -10.2%
Elongation -8.4%

Oil Resistance: (70 hrs\125 °C):

ASTM Type #1 #3
Durometer -8 -15
Tensile -13.0% -32.8%
Elongation -11.6% -19.6%
